Dr. Kyeong-Ryoon Lee is a research scientist at Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB). Dr. Lee also serves as an Visiting Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology, Seoul National University. He received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Science at Seoul National University with a dissertation, entitled "Neuropharmacokinetic analysis and delivery strategy for drugs targeted to the central nervous system". Dr. Lee's research interests include pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence for drug discovery and development, analysis of big data, and model-based translational research in preclinical and clinical studies.

Previously, Dr. Lee received a Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Chungnam National University. He has the distinction of achieving the Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) and Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certifications, both of which are known as one of the most well-known and trusted Microsoft Certifications in the field of IT. After completing his PhD at Seoul National University, Dr. Lee served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), followed by Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in USA. Dr. Lee had a 4 year real-world experience at Korea's Daewoong Pharmaceutical Company as a researcher. Meanwhile, Dr. Lee also was a visiting scientist at RIKEN, Japan's largest comprehensive research institution.

    Jung-Hyun Won, BS

Jung-Hyun Won is a graduate student at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Biopharmaceutical Sciences, Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology, Seoul National University. Jung-Hyun received BS degree in Animal Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering at Chung-Ang University (2016-2020). Jung-Hyun joined CCADD through the 2020 Summer Internship program. Before she joined CCADD, she worked as an intern at GSK Korea, where she developed a broad interest in pharmacology and drug development.

Starting with her participation in a research project named 'Development an artificial intelligence (AI)-model to predict and evaluate drug-drug interactions (DDIs)' during the internship, Jung-Hyun wants to further get involved in research projects to improve efficiency in drug development by innovatively integrating existing drug information and clinical data.

    David Seung U Lee, MSc

David Seung U Lee is a PhD student at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Biopharmaceutical Science (MMBS), Graduate School of Convergence Science, Seoul National University. As an MMBS major, he received Master's of Science in Medicine in 2023. He joined CCADD during the 2021 Winter Internship Program. His research interest lies in generating Real-World Evidence (RWE) through causal inference using Real-World Data (RWD), such as electronic health records (EHRs). Moreover, he is interested in machine learning models for drug repurposing.

    Yujin Kim

Yujin Kim is a bio-medical engineering major at the department of Integrative Engineering, Chung-Ang University. She became an undergraduate student researcher at CCADD after successfully completing the 2022 Summer Internship program. Before this, she studied the fundamentals of drug development while participating in AMIST Drug Development Online Summer School program in 2021. At CCADD, she intends to explore diverse ways to integrate her engineering and biological knowledge with artificial intelligence (AI) technology and discover solutions to overcome limitations in medical data.

During her time as an intern at CCADD in the summer 2022, she was able to improve her proficiency in coding languages like Structured Query Language (SQL) and Python. Also, she gained a hands-on experience in conducting research using Real-World Data (RWD) such as electronic medical records (EMR), during which she cleaned and curated datasets containing preion records, laboratory test results, and medical diagnosis. Through these experiences, Yujin was inspired to become a member of CCADD and study more deeply about RWD and the applications of AI in the field of medicine.

Currently Yujin is part of a few ongoing research projects at CCADD. Just as she has provided a valuable support for the team, we hope this experience will turn out to be a valuable learning opportunity for her going forward.

    Yunha Noh

Yunha Noh is currently an undergraduate research student at CCADD, following her successful completion of the 2023 Winter Internship Program. She has received dual Bachelor’s degrees in Biotechnology and Computer Engineering from Duksung Women's University. Her primary research interests include applying machine learning to drug repurposing and leveraging real world data (RWD) to real world evidence in medical science.

Before she joined CCADD, she worked as an intern in the Plant Developmental Signaling Network Lab at Department of Biotechnology, Duksung Women’s University. Also, she worked as a coding instructor at C³ coding.

    Seo-rin Choi

Seo-rin Choi is an undergraduate researcher at CCADD after she successfully completed the winter internship program in 2023. She double majored in Food Bioengineering and Functional Biomaterials Convergence at Gachon University. She is interested in enhancing the efficiency of clinical drug development by integrating artificial intelligence technology with medical big data.

Seo-rin has plenty of internship experiences. At Kyung Hee University's Instrumentation Analysis Center, Seo-rin learned how to use state-of-the-art equipment essential for pharmaceutical development and manufacturing. There, she received an award for the presentation on her research, which significantly deepened her passion for the pharmaceutical field. Moreover, she worked as an undergraduate researcher in the Preventive Medicine Laboratory at Gachon University College of Medicine, where she learned the basics of epidemiological studies and data science. Additionally, she had an opportunity to study AI applications during a team project, which expanded her vision for the future industries and deepened her understanding of its critical importance.

    Keun-Ae Song, BS

Keun-Ae Song is an accountant and administrative assistant to Prof. Howard Lee. Keun-Ae started working at CCADD in July, 2020. Her main duties are budgeting, expense tracking and filing for the research projects of CCADD. She is also responsible for supporting general office tasks such as scheduling and coordinating meetings and events.

Keun-Ae received her BS degree in Crop Science and Biotechnology at Dankook University (2012-2017). After graduation, she worked for a year at the Dankook International Agricultural Cooperation, Dankook University. Since then, she was a senior researcher at the Rural Development Administration, in the capacity of which she has stayed in Uzbekistan for two years disseminating Korean agricultural technology. Keun-Ae loves to climb the mountains and to go to the seaside. She also enjoys exploring new restaurants.
